I bought this dress last week in the Dorothy Perkins sale, only £17! I have been very thrifty lately and resisting spending money as I am hoping to save all my money for a deposit on a house. Still, I allow myself little treats if my bank balance is looking healthy enough. When Scott saw this dress he said 'Haven't you already got something like that?' and yes, I have. I have many floral dresses, but if you know something works, why fix it? I like the colours in this dress because they go with all of the other colours in my wardrobe (except for purple, I only own 1 item of purple clothing, I just don't do purple for some reason). This dress could also be changed completely by wearing a different colour vest underneath (I am too boobalicious to go without a vest! Don't want my boobs jiggling everywhere thank you very much).
Oh I also wanted to recommend my new foundation to you all (especially fellow acne stricken readers). I've always battled with acne, but since working in the library & wearing more make up my outbreaks have been more frequent. I figured maybe this was because of wearing too much make up (even though I always chose oil free foundation). I had seen clinique's anti-blemish make up advertised for a while and thought maybe it would be a good change for my skin. I've been using it for 2 weeks and I haven't had a single break out! I am putting it down to this change in my make up so I want to say thank you clinique! It is my skin saviour.
Do you have any secret weapons in the constant battle against acne? Or are you more fortunate than me and never get spots? (If yes, I hate you! Haha!)

I love your dress, it really suits you! My skin isn't too bad with spots but when i do get them they are massive and in obvious places, which is so annoying. I have tried a lot of things to get rid of them but nothing really works with me :( I try to use Simple Facial Cleaning Mousse most evenings though and i think that is one of the reasons i don't get spots that often, it makes my skin feel soft and smooth which i love as well! x
ReplyDeleteLovely dress, looks really pretty on you. I´ve started using Clearasil´s ultra treatment scrub and it has worked very well for me...xxx
ReplyDeleteOoh, thanks for the rec, I will try it out! I don't wear foundation at all usually because like you say too much makeup is often really bad for my skin. I am looking for something with a little coverage for under my eyes etc though to even things out.
ReplyDeleteps love the dress!
I love your dress, looks so pretty
ReplyDeletebeautiful dress...
ReplyDeleteI love those sleeves!
xoxo
Olivia
I really like the dress, the sleeves are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI keep trying to stop buying floral dresses but I just can't stop myself, they're too good haha!
Oooh, good on you & your thrifty ways! I love the dress; it's print is really quirky. & in total agreement about Clinique. The only foundation that's ever worked for me is one of theirs, their Almost Make-Up range. The 50ml tube has lasted me a year & two months & it's still got a few squirts left so it's definitely worth it's money!
ReplyDeleteearth vs. the wild heart
I share the same pain; my skin is full of spots and red dots, I absolutely loathe that I don't use make up, because in order for me to get the right products I would have to invest in some good stuff and I rather spend the money on clothes. That foundation seems to be really good, I wish I could give it a try ( I probably will, the next time I go to the mall).

LOVE that dress! I hardly ever wear foundation but my skin seems to feel cleaner the day after I've worn it - maybe it gets more of a scrub to get it off in the first place, I don't know, but I've not tried Clinique before so I might check them out when I need to replace my current stuff :)
ReplyDeleteI have this dress! It's one of my favourites - I love the cut of most DP dresses, they're so flattering - although you're right, a vest is definitely needed under this one! Love the shoes in the top picture too!
ReplyDeleteI love your dress :) !
ReplyDeleteYour dress is adorable!! I started to have more acne when started working so I bought I cleaning treatment by clinique too and instead of wearing foundation everyday I just use some bronze powder so I don't look so pale!! have a nice day :)
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! It's brilliant how simple things like swapping bare legs for tights and adding a cardigan can totally change a look.
ReplyDeleteI swear by Organic Surge face wash. It's a relatively new line in Boots but has been so good for my skin!
love your dress.
ReplyDeleteon the acne ...drink lots of water and cut out as much sugar as you can. i have used EVERYTHING and now i use just a plain neutrogena soap bar to wash my face, & its wonderful.
& for makeup i use bare minerals..it doesnt clog up your pores.
Yes, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. besides what if you your favorite garment it probably will wear out from over wearing, so better have back ups haha
ReplyDeleteUnfortunally I'm one of those people who rarely get spots. Which is probably a good thing because when I do I tend to pick at them...
ReplyDeleteI know that Clinique is really good for skin though so good choice :)
Pretty dress also. I like floral prints.

I love the shape of the dress. It's so your style. I'm glad you decided to treat yourself and I love how you've styled it.
ReplyDeleteYou're so cute! ♥
ReplyDeleteI agree! You cant have to many floral dresses. Great outfit both ways. Are you allowed to wear all your cute clothes to the Library or do you have a uniform?
ReplyDeletexxx
I love that dress, what a great thrift.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the recommendation, I get regular break outs too so I might give that a go next time I go makeup shopping. I'm not sure if this will work for you because I don't know your skin type, I get oily skin. I went to a skin professionalist who analysed my skin for me. I used to wash my face like 4 times a day, but they told me that just makes my pores work overtime trying to produce more oil than neccesary, so I now only wash my face once a day, it was hard at first but my skin definitely isn't as oily anymore.
That's such a lovely dress! Great find for 17pounds. Clinique works wonder for me too, i use their 3 steps.. amazing result!
ReplyDeleteBoth ways look so good! :) And by the way, I'm not that fortunate, I have to fight against acne too :( I use Shiseido Pureness scrub, cream and make up, it works quite great :)
ReplyDeleteLovely dress.
ReplyDeleteI have really awful skin (managed somewhat by the fact that I am on the pill, otherwise it would be mayhem), but I haven't found my spottiness to be related to whether I wear foundation or not. The only pattern is that it gets worse when I am stressed.
I also can't use any anti-spot facewash or foundation or anything, because as I've got older, they dry out my skin too much and then I'm both spotty and flaky.
I have found no. 7 protect and perfect or whatever it's called to be great though. It's got retinol in it, which is both anti wrinkles and anti-spot.
Great dress! The first outfit is my favorite
ReplyDeleteYour dress is lovely, it really suits you.
ReplyDeleteFoundation is the bane of my life, I've never been able to find the right one for my skin.
LOL at the boobalicious comment! I tend to wear camis under low dresses as well. That's such a pretty dress!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress - I especially like it in the first pic with those lovely heels.
ReplyDeleteNew Utility? Well I'll be getting myself straight down to Liverpool One then!!!
I was really intrigued by the clinique foundation and wondered if it actually works - will give it a go on payday!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like everyone is trying to watch their spending lately! But for varying reasons. Really lovely dress though. I'm on the prowl for a foundation which is actually matches my skin and isn't too heavy! It's so difficult to find.
ReplyDeletei love your shoes in the first picture, very pretty! i will have to try the clinique foundation, i'm forever looking for good recommendations! oh and a little late perhaps, but well done on becoming a librarian! :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love these kind of "remixing" posts! love to read them and doing them too.
ReplyDeletewell the dress is gorgeous, and what's up with boyfriends and our closets? every time I say "oh isn't this lovely?" I get a "don't you own something like that already"...
and I have some acne marks too, especially around my chin area, though I'm too lazy to hide them properly (I have a Maybelline foundation that I put on rarely), anyway, I've heard wonders about clinique products.
and about lolita, it is indeed a very hard read, though I am finding it interesting now I'm almost at the end, I'm glad I didn't give up! you should try it again :)
hope you have a nice week!
oh and do you know what I spotted now I enlarged your pictures? I saw that same dress here at dorothy perkins! and remember my boyfriend saying exactly the same as yours said! LOL moment :) though it's kind of similar to my H&M Garden Collection one! hehe!
ReplyDeletei have such bad blemishes.. so thanks for the heads up on that clinique item!!!
ReplyDeletei love the way you style your dress!! you look so pretty in both looks!! :D

Floral dresses are sooo cute! You look very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks great on you! I bought it a little while ago but I actually took it back - something about the length and the cut just wasn't flattering on me. It does look cute with a top underneath though - I always wonder with dresses like that who can get away with them without an extra layer!
ReplyDeletelove!
ReplyDeleteI love the tan flats with the floral and black! It's a nice mix-up versus the usual black shoe you might see.
ReplyDeleteOooh, thank you. I have quite an uneven skintone, so I may try this one out x
ReplyDeleteI have quite dry ensitive skin and I get bad spots fairly regularly but since I started using the Boots Vitamin E range my skin has been SO much better. I rave about this to everyone but it's really good! :) My mum uses Clinique too because anything else is too harsh for her skin.

I like your blog !!Thank you. They are really great .

Gorgeous dress, I wish they had it in the tall section, I hate the fact that we get a bum deal clothes wise, grr.
ReplyDeleteI will have to try that foundation, I've really struggled with my skin lately, I can't believe I had no spots as a teen (or very little) and now I'm almost 30 and I've got crap skin!
I get blemishes a lot too.. it sucks...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say I have acne, but I did constantly have spots around my chin, usually one corker and some little ones. Until I finally snapped and went to the doctor's a couple of months ago, they gave me some antibiotic stuff to dab on and it's amazing! Nothing I've ever bought over the counter has helped, but this stuff helps so much. My face isn't totally clear yet, but it's such a vast improvement. I'd definitely recommend going to the doctor if spots bother you, I thought they would think I was a time-waster because mine weren't really bad, but they were really nice and I feel a lot more confident when I look in the mirror now.
