This is a typical work outfit now. Actually, I am quite partial to wearing a shirt because it makes me feel really smart, but I like this top too. These shoes have been unloved for far too long as well, but now I have brought them into my work wardrobe. Oh t-bars, I will never tired of you! These shoes are 2 years old from topshop, back when prices were quite reasonable and these leather shoes only cost £35. Now they probably cost more like £60. I honestly can't remember the last time I bought anything from Topshop (probably my lovely peter pan collar coat in September). This is because I think they are rip off merchants now and nothing really appeals to me much (for the quality and price). Anyone else found this with Topshop lately? For example, I tried on a lovely red skirt last week in there but it was SO short and really thin material and I think they wanted about £32 for it. I could probably buy a really nice dress from somewhere else for that. Maybe I'm a skin flint, but hey.
Oh aren't these shoes lovely though? Maybe I will fall back in love with Topshop if they start making lovely t-bar shoes like these at equally lovely prices.

oh you look lovely as per usual. T-bars really suit you!
ReplyDeleteAh I remember when Topshop was cheaper, no ridiculous £45 dresses or crazy expensive cardigans. I fell out of love with Topshop for a while, but theres a few bits and bobs in their I like occasionally. I normally just opt for the cheaper shops over Topshop nowadays.
i love the t-bars & in such immaculate condition 2 years on! i'm the other way around with top shop, i buy loads from there now but never used too. pity the prices aren't what they used to be though.
ReplyDeleteI walk past the Oxford Circus Topshop every day and I never bother going in there for exactly those reasons - overpriced rubbish! Those shoes are gorgeous though, shoe envy going on here!
ReplyDeletei am still addicted to topshop! looove your shoes, super cute!
ReplyDeleteNo I totally agree, they arent great for their pricing at the minute, but they do sort of rule the highstreet so I guess they could charge whatever they wanted :(
ReplyDeleteLovely t-bars though!
I'm out of love with Topshop, I don't think the price is appropriate for the quality. Not even the big Topshop in Liverpool can tempt me.
ReplyDeletethose shoes are adorable!!
ReplyDeleteohmygosh. i hope when i work my outfits will be as adorable as yours.
ReplyDeletetopshop definitely is over priced for the quality, HOWEVER, i do like their makeup. as for their clothing, i've decided i will pay the full price for a UNIQUE piece that i feel i couldn't find anywhere else.
I love the t-bar shoes. Red is such an amazing colour for shoes. I don't own anything quite so bold.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Top Shop in Canada so I can't really weigh in on its merits or downfalls. I know I find the same thing for Urban Outfitters though. They charge so much for things that look like they're worth half the price.
Very cool work outfit.

Lovely outfit :)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about Topshop, complete rip off in comparison to most of the other shops and not neccesarily better quality. I find myself looking more online for gems or even tescos and primark!

I COMPLETELY agree about Topshop! Overpriced, sub-par quality, and it's not even pleasant to shop there! It's always so busy at my local TS (granted, it's on Oxford St, but still) - if I'm going to pay £80 for a dress, it had better last me a while, and I should enjoy the shopping experience too! TS Ox St incites a mild panic attack just thinking about it.

there is something so elegant about t bars. topshop is so overpriced nowdays...i always used to shop there, not so much anymore x
ReplyDeleteI hardly buy anything in Topshop now it's got so expensive, they used to have a good range of shoes that weren't leather too (I'm vegetarian) but they've stopped those for all the expensive ones.
ReplyDeleteThe last thing i bought from Topshop was a t-shirt from the sale.
This outfit is so cute, i love it!
Ah, I totally read that wrong! Haha I read that as workout outfit!
ReplyDeleteCompletey agree about the Topshop thing! And about 90% of their stock is that horrible 'trendy' gaga inspired stuff...eew.
ReplyDeleteThose hoes are lovely - I have a similar pair that come out once in a while...I feel like Dorothy when I wear them!
Looby xx
What a lovely outfit! I know what you mean about topshop's pricing, I feel now that I can find the exact same things in vintage or charity shops for about ten percent of their prices. Also the quality of their clothes is usually pretty bad considering how pricey it is now, which I think is something they really need to sort out!
ReplyDeleteOh I wish I could wear heels!! You look like such a librarian and I mean that in the best sense! In Ireland we have those rip-off prices but with extra tax slapped on. There was a jacket that was €61 instore, but when I bought it online I got it for €50 delivered?? I only buy from Topshop in the sales now, I usually go in and have a browse and scoff at the prices, for the quality I could buy something equally as good in h&m for half the price. Anyway, you're more likely to meet someone in the same clothes as you as well.
ReplyDeleteI have three pairs of t-bars. You inspired me to get the flat clarks ones, I have a beaten up pair of flat brown carvela ones and some small high heeled clarks ones. <33 t-bars.
Was it a red skirt with gold buttons and a bow? If so, I really want that. I saw it in Madrid yesterday but it was 35 euros and I was hoping it'd be cheaper in the UK, as euro prices always seem to be higher in Topshop. It is a bit overpriced though, I remember when I used to buy normal wardrobe basics there...not anymore. It's still good for more unique things, especially considering that nobody wears topshop stuff in Spain.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are SO SO SO SO lovely :):)
I love t straps! They are so feminine and lovely. The double bar was a nice touch on yours! You are sure one stylish librarian.
ReplyDelete-indigo
those shoes are sweet as!
ReplyDeleteAaah, T-Bar shoes are so YOU! You have that ladylike style that a T-Bar personifies.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you've said about Topshop. I only shop there in the sale. It's far too expensive!
Lovely outfit as usual! I'm with you on Topshop - although I've developed an extreme hatred of the whole thing now - not only is it over-priced and rubbish quality, I also think the clothes are just too OTT trendy and not stuff I could ever pull off myself. Maybe that's more my problem than theirs, though! I used to think they were still good for 'staple' stuff like plain tops/jeans but I even go elsewhere for them now. I'm a total Dotty P's girl now!
ReplyDeleteI love T-bar shoes!! So beautiful! As usual, I love all your outfits, be they work or play!;)
ReplyDeleteBtw this is gauloise from livejournal but I'll be signing off with my new blogger account from now on - just so you know I'm still reading!:)
I haven't shopped on Top Shop since I was 15 years old, does that make me sound old? I find as a size 14 girl I hardly fit into anything! Shoes on the other hand shouldn't be a problem. I love the t bars, they have such a fabulous vintage feel to them, also great red shoes are hard to find!

Hi, I'm a new follower of your blog but I know you through Flickr and have always thought you always have the cutest outfits!

This outfit is gorgeous! It is exactly how I'd like to dress for work (and try to!) Smart, pretty and practical! Topshop was my favourite shop for years, but the stuff at the moment is not worth the money. Also I am pretty tall and their skirts and dresses are waaay too short for me. xx
ReplyDeleteI'm also in love with T-Bars, though it's been awhile since the last time I wore them, I may rescue them from my wardrobe :) By the way, happy bealted birthday!! I was on holiday and I wasn't on time :) So are you enjoying your new "work life"? Sometimes it's hard, but it makes you feel so good too :)
ReplyDeletei agree about topshop. its so gosh darn expensive! i find the same with urban outfitters - the quality there is not good at all. i bought a purse for £30 and it has broken three times now!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! Love the shoes and tee. :)
ReplyDeleteLove those red shoes with this outfit!

Those shoes are wonderful! I love the double strap detail. They fit your style to a T (oh gosh, double entendre puns...).
ReplyDeleteoh those shoes are gorge xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous - those tbars are sooo cute. I dream of work outfits just like yours :)
ReplyDeleteOh, btw - I did name my cat after Sabrina, lol. My boyfriend makes fun of me for it.

The only things I buy from Topshop these days are jewellery (if it's in the sale) and knickers (they're so lovely!). The sizing is often crap, it's best suited to tall, flat-chested size eights most of the time. They do sixteems but I struggle to get into them! I bought a lovely (old school) Topshop dress from Oxfam the other day and it's a 14 that goes on fine but it's strappy with no room for a chest and would be frankly indecent without a vest top underneath!
