Jeans! Yes, jeans! I actually wear jeans more often than I let on on this blog, mostly because they are my boring outfit days. The days when I still have yesterdays make up on and all I do is laze about the house (yes, we all have them). On Thursday I had a day off work because I'm working on Saturday so I accompanied my sister and niece on their visit to the nurse and baked. Lovely way to spend a day off! I decided to wear my lovely green cardigan that I am growing really attached to, with my old stripy h&m t-shirt. It's pretty scratty looking, but I love the bold stripes and the bow detail so I refuse to throw it away.
This week my nails have been looking like Dorothy's ruby red slippers. I LOVE Barry M's red glitter nail varnish! I put it on over a coat of Chanel's red nail varnish that I have to make it look extra red. It lasts for ages, but is also a real bugger to get off with nail varnish remover.
Oh and my jeans are Topshop Baxters, which I do like but I think that in the past 4 or 5 years the quality of them has dramatically decreased! I remember the first pair of baxters I got, probably in 2005 as I was still in college, and they were so thick and long lasting. Like REAL denim! Now though they just seem to be some denim mix with lycra that frays quickly especially where my thighs meet! I might invest in some Levi's when my last pair of Baxter's finally die. Do you have any recommendations for long lasting skinny jeans?
P.S Happy Weekend! I'm in work tomorrow but still, Saturdays are always more laid back so it's not too bad. Anyone got any nice plans?

Lovely outfit! Jeans totally fit right into your style & it is rare to find a good pair that will last.
ReplyDeleteI also have major nail jealousy right now! ;o

The colour of that cardigan is gorgeous. I might have to nip into M&S later and see if I can find it. I wear Dotty P's super skinny jeans and I love them. x
ReplyDeleteWow you in Jeans! This is different. You look great in them too :)

I completely agree about the glitter barry m! Lovely but my my what a nightmare to get off!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you bake on your day off?
Im spending the weekend going for lunch by the river and going to the cinema!

i've been reading your blog for a few weeks now, and I am just so impressed with how well you seem to know what colours and tones are best for you, you ALWAYS look 'right' :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your nail varnish, I really need to try it out! I always got topshop's pippa jeans, but they stopped making them about a year ago boo! The girl that worked there told me baxters were the closest style but I felt they were almost like jeggings instead of actual denim :/ xx
ReplyDeletei feel you pain with removing that nail varnish! i have the glittery blue won and taking it off with my acetone free nail varnish remover took forever! i love your cardigan and really want a blazer in that kind of green (:
ReplyDeleteas for the jeans.. i only have topshop pairs so i have no suggestions!
So cute! the jeans look great. I love your shirt and the color on the cardigan. Beautiful. Plus that ring is so adorable.

You look lovely Helen! And I really like your nailpolish and ring :)

I have that nail varnish, and the blue and the green ones too, but you're right about taking it off. Still, I'm so tempted to put some on now for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI wear Baxters too, and it's the fading that's the problem for me. I don't wear jeans very often nowadays, I'm all about skirts, so these ones will die a slow death and won't be replaced.
Oh you look so lovely in jeans!
ReplyDeleteJeans can be boring, but if you pair them with a cute top and good shoes, they most likely won't be! I love your stripes and color combination . . . that cardigan is adorable :)
I definitely have to try that nail lacquer too!
i still have baxters! in 3 colours hah. they came out when i worked there so i got them for cheaps. i know what u mean about their jeans fraying easily now. i LOVE the ring by the way x
ReplyDeleteI love the red glitter! Though you're right glitter nail varnis is soooooo hard to get off!
ReplyDeleteI love your cardigan! And I practically live in my trusted blue skinnys. :D
ReplyDeleteLovely post
Oooh wow, love that ring!! The jeans look fab on you, I love seeing blogger's 'boring' outfits - they're always much more interesting than the blogger thinks!
ReplyDeletelooking good girlfriend. i love the wizard of oz inspired nails too!
ReplyDeleteyou look lovely in jeans Helen, and agreed, a good pair of jeans are difficult to find, so there's one reason I don't own many.
ReplyDeletethe color of the cardigan is amazing, I love it here and in the outfit of the previous post as well!
oh and you make me jealous of your amazing nails and how cute is that ring??
and thank you for your birthday wishes!!
The cardigan is gorgeous! I love the shade of green it has. I don't think there is anyone who doesn't suit that shade of green - it's just so lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd your nails! I am jealous of how great they look. You've made me want to try to look for a red glittery picture.
Thank you for your sweet comment, and for following! Your blog is lovely also :) I love your style, and how incredible is your nail polish!?

Skinny jeans are great! I fond if they have a double seem down the inside of your leg there is less chance of them wearing through :) Check out my blog if ya have time!

That's so funny. Topshop has been my go to for good and long-lasting jeans for years. I had a pair (Baxter as well) that lasted me until I could not stuff myself into them anymore. :)
ReplyDeleteI still buy from there because I tried Zara jeans and the belt looped popped after a few days. What quality :(

Quick glitter nail varnish tip - cut cottonwool balls in half, put remover on, put on your nail and cover with foil. Leave for about 15 minutes.

Saves a lot of scrubbing!
I agree, jeans for me are considered the "boring outfit" and in fact i don't like myself much on them so it's been ages since i last bought one.
ReplyDeleteBut you look pretty in jeans, i like the combination stripes vs. green.
Also your ring rocks!
Love the scrabble ring! Had a big discussion about scrabble pendents on Twitter this week, they are so popular! I have a scrabble pendent but the OH won't let me wear it as he says it looks tacky! Huh, men eh?!
ReplyDeleteI also wear jeans when I don't feel like dressing up
ReplyDeleteLove that ring!

COOL! the ring.. me want one too. haha

The Barry M red glitter is one of my favourite nail varnishes, I wear it all the time!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about Topshop jeans, they wear out so quickly. I always used to buy Topshop Pippa jeans but sadly they don't make them anymore, boooo.
I NEED that ring!
ReplyDeleteLove Grace.
Ah but those jeans look great on you! My TS jeans from years ago don't fit me no more. I've heard GAP jeans are great so i might invest in a pair.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your nails! I have some of the OPI glitter nail varnishes but think I may have to get some red glitter now to try this out. And I have one of those scrabble rings too!
