Dress - Zara
Ahh so yesterday was the dreaded first day back at work after the Christmas break. I wasn't dreading it really, I had already been in in between Christmas & New Year so it wasn't too bad. In fact I was quite looking forward to getting back to my routine and getting back to the gym. This is what I wore for my first day back, black & boring but simple! I adore this dress from Zara, it was about £36 I think. I have wore it so much, it's good for dressing up or dressing down. I love the shape of it too, it fits into my work wardrobe brilliantly because it's not all 'power-dressing' but still remains professional looking.
I spent my first day in work catching up on a few projects and then making little finger puppets in the afternoon for my rhyme time on Friday! Rhyme time is a weekly event for 0-4 year olds where we sing songs & rhymes with them and tell stories. It is so much fun! It's also a great way to introduce little ones to the library and to help them develop their literacy. I made little incey wincey spider finger puppets. I do love my job.
How was everyone elses first day back? Or are you at Uni, attempting to catch up on all the work for the January deadlines? Those January deadlines used to ruin my Christmases!

Hang in there with work!
ReplyDeleteI don't start back to university until January 18th.
cute first day outfit! i love the bow detail of the dress :) i'm on vacation til next monday and i'm still enjoying the downtime, haha

i also have mixed feelings about going back to work. i wanna have freetime but i miss the daily routine sometimes.
ReplyDeletewhen im back at work ill hate myself for missing work.

I love those shoes, the colour really pops with your black dress. I was back at work but our heating system had flooded the office over Christmas so I'm back working from home!
ReplyDeleteI'm the oddball, I'm loving the routine of work!
ReplyDeleteYour dress is wonderful xox
i've still got 5 days before i go back to uni :D and for the record i don't think your outfit is boring, i love the shape of the dress x
ReplyDeleteLove that dress. It looks lovely on you x
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks perfect on you! Your work sounds so lovely. Today I visited the library and they had a reading corner for the littlest children and they were reading spot the dog I think and it was the cutest thing to watch them be read to and respond :)

Oh I love this outfit! The shoes really pop! Stunning!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely outfit Helen, I love the little bow detail! Wish my first day back involved making finger puppets rather than compiling a dull PR strategy report! Sally x
ReplyDeleteYou have the most amazing job! I'm ultra jealous :) That dress is beautiful, just the perfect shape! x
ReplyDeleteI hate going back to work! My first day back was yesterday, and the computer system was down so I only stayed for three hours, but I still hated it.
ReplyDeleteI like that dress, I saw the camel version in the sale but they didn't have it in my size. Your first day back outfit was lovely, I think that's where I went wrong, I threw on any old rubbish, then felt rubbish myself for the rest of the day.
I don't think that's boring at all. You have such a cute style — I love the simple black dress and tights with the sweet red shoes.
ReplyDeleteWow, your job sounds so much fun! I wish I could spend my days making little finger puppets...
I'm at Uni but made sure that I got all my essays written before I broke up for the Christmas holidays — after the term I've had, I just needed a nice long break.
At least you love your job! I haven't had the novelty of "going back to work" as I still haven't actually gone job hunting here yet, haha, but we'll see how that goes.
ReplyDeleteCute outfit ♥
Cute outfit lovely! I have one more precious day off before I go back to work on Friday. But I have to admit, I've spent Christmas/NY living out of a suitcase visiting various family and friends and am SICK of the same old comfy jeans and festive sweaters I have been uniform-ed in!
ReplyDeleteSo actually going back to work will really force me to dress up and get back into some smart styles and make an effort (rather than wearing the same beehive for 3 days, woops!). Love the shoes most - really sweet x
Back to work truly blows... I went straight into nightshifts YUK.
ReplyDeleteCute little dress, a perfect staple.
x
PS// Topshop Nailpolish Giveaway over at mine :)

My first day back was horrible, well the thought of it was at least, but more to do with the fact that I was so used to laying in and not getting up in the dark! Your job sounds like fun, makes me wanna work with primary kids (I currently work in a secondary school, which is fun 2 and never dull!)
ReplyDeleteI wore a new outfit for first day bk, makes u feel a bit better!!
I had made a new shirt- it's here:

I really like how you've put this together, the all black with the simple colour flash of the red shoes is so cute. And I LOVE that dress. I never go to Zara and now I think I should! You look lovely as usual.
ReplyDeleteI've found the first week back really hard, we've had a lot to do and even though I've slept loads today I am shattered!! Hopefully one more lie-in will sort me out. :)
Gorgeous blog. I have the exact same dress and I adore it, you can literally wear it on all occasions- casual or dressed up.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful 2011.
