Lady Heyes furniture finds

I've blogged about Lady Heyes before but it was a long time. Lady Heyes is a antiques/craft village type thing just outside Frodsham, Cheshire. There are different little outbuildings full of second hand goodies. I've been lots of times before but this was my first time taking Scott so we can look at stuff for our house. In one of the back rooms there was this little corner all full of fab 70s style/mid century modern furniture that I am loving at the moment! We needed a coffee table and couldn't decide between these two below. The circular one is a g-plan one and was £28 and the rectangular one was £12. So we decided to go with the cheaper one because it will be easier to fit into any room and has storage for all those magazines and 'coffee table' books. I love that green telephone too but it was £25 which was a bit ridic. for a telephone I thought!

I also loved this little kitchen corner. The pink unit is adorable! I think I would paint the pink a turquoisey colour though. Alas, Scott didn't like it.

The rest of Lady Heyes is full of cute knick knacks. Definitely a place to go if you want a tea set. It would be a great place to buy loads of tea cups for a party or wedding too, or mismatched crockery too.

We also bought this 1970s teak dressing table! It was reduced to £52 and we're going to pick it up with a van in 2 weeks time. We are planning to use it as a TV unit or sideboard though by removing the mirror and perhaps just use the mirror as a full length mirror.

Anyone in the north west really should visit Lady Heyes for some cheap cheap furniture finds! Oh and there is also a microbrewery there and I spent saturday night sipping on some 'Blush' beer, which was a lovely fruity real ale. Hmmm.

  11. Oh looks like such a lovely place, I love little shops like that. I always go to the one here in Sheffield, and though I never buy anything I'm just happy to look at stuff.. The table you picked is fun- it reminds be bit of a breakfast tray :)
And you should totally take pictures of Before and After on your DIY project with a sideboard! :)

  12. I love shops like this. There are a few in Yorkshire that I love and visit regularly, even if it's just to admire the knick knack table!

The side table is just stunning. Can't wait to see what you do with it when you have your house! :) x

  16. The coffee table you got is amazing, and such a bargain! Also my grandma has a telephone just like that green one but in black, I wouldn't pay £25 for it either.

  17. Oooh, what a cool place! I might have to get down to Frodsham once I've bought a house that needs furnishing (fingers crossed this will happen during 2011!). My parents have a rotary phone like that - they're not being ironic, they just haven't felt the need to buy a new one since the 70s.

  20. Furniture shopping! How exiting. I'm not being sarcastic, which is sad, I genuinely mean it.

You've picked out some really lovely things there. I love the cleverness of turning that dressing table into a TV cabinet and mirror — I would never have thought of that.

Looks like such a lovely little shop!

  22. Lovely finds. We ended up using a sideboard as a tv table as the 'real' tv stands just weren't tall enough for what we wanted.

  23. Why have I never been here? It's not a MILLION miles away from my parents and I think my dad was actually pricing some work around there a while back. A bit too far for me now though :( (I moved to stupid Kent) I actually think £25 for that telephone is really good - I've seen them go for a lot more!

  24. I need to go there asap. Have never been but heard so many good things about it! Amazing finds Helen!

  25. This place looks absolutely stunning! It's probably a good thing it's too far for me to travel - I could spend so much money there!

The dresser you guys bought is really lovely.

  26. I've never been there - why do I never venture into Cheshire properly? All the volunteers at work keep telling me about the amazing things they find and still I don't go!

The dresser/sideboard is AMAZING! That's flipping cheap for good solid teak as well, isn't it?

  27. Oh my gosh, this place looks like my fantasy! I'd never want to leave! And it's a shame that the phone was so expensive, because it's really cute!

  34. Oooh I have just discovered Lady Heyes, I only live down the road from there. It's brilliant, was there at the weekend. I clocked that telephone and the pink unit too! I also saw a Brereton picnic set but couldn't justify the £28 they wanted for it!
