Don't you hate it when you take a photo of an outfit and then minutes later decide you just don't like it? I think this would look better with some heels because the dress almost hits my knee and makes me look kind of stumpy. Ah well. I wore this on my day off to go for some house viewings. It was really balmy, I think the temperature got up to 11c! So I wore my spring/autumn jacket from Topshop that I haven't had the chance to wear since about September. It reminds me that Spring is just around the corner!

House viewing is very scary and I keep going through phases of 'yes, let's buy buy buy!' and then other times I'm like 'what if....we have no money, I get made redundant, etc, etc'. I know for a fact that I will have to STOP buying clothes. I haven't really bought many clothes in the past few months anyway as we have been saving, but all my money would be pumped into the house. I may even do a little blog sale perhaps to raise some extra revenue? It is such an exciting but scary time really.

In other news, my training for my run is going pretty well. I can do 3 miles in 22 minutes on the treadmill now, although it's more like 2 miles in 20 minutes when it's actually outside. I wanted to go for a run today but it is raining and I don't have any waterproofs! Hoping it dies down later. Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend too!

  2. Good luck with your house viewings Helen (: I can imagine it's a daunting process, I remember viewing student houses last year, and just settling on University private halls again haha! I love your outfit, the coat and pops of colour look lovely together. xx

  3. Ahhh, I feel the pain! I'm moving to a more expensive place, so that extra 50/wk means minimal clothes buying, pretty much to the point of none!
It hasn't been going well, thus far this week I've bought 2 dresses and 4 jewellery items... but they were all incredibly on sale I swear >.<
    haha
At least when uni comes back I'll have a distraction.
Good luck with the house hunting - and don't worry. What happens, happens.
    Nice bag btw

  4. 3 miles in 22 minutes is awesome! Will you please let us know how you trained up to that level? I've been running (on the treadmill) for a few months but am still pretty crap (ha). I think it's because every couple of weeks my knees start hurting and I have to stop, and when I start again I have to build myself up from the beginning again.

Anyway, hope the house buying stuff goes well!

I have an extreme respect for science, but I've never truly understood it (and I think that even the most brilliant scientists have a neverending list of unanswered questions). Climate change is one of those things that we just aren't certain about. Some say that it's cyclical, and the earth regularly goes in cyclical patterns during which extreme weather events (e.g. the ice age) are normal. Some say that it's due to our mistreatment of the earth. Some believe that it's a combination of the two... or something completely different.

As for me, I really don't know what to believe. All I know for certain is (1) we need to start treating the earth with more respect and (2) we need to prepare as best we can for the haywire events that we are experiencing and be compassionate towards those who have lost their homes, loved ones, or lives.

    Very thought-provoking post :)

Also, that armlace. I want one! (Or two!) Can I place a custom order? Or will you let us know when they're being sold? And can I pay through Paypal? :)

  5. Love the dress and that topshop coat is gorgeous! Redundancy can happen at anytime so sometimes you just have to take the plunge, easier said than done!

  6. Ah I'm so jealous. I'd love to buy a house but then I have no idea where I want to live and at the same time my boyfriend is still finishing his PhD so we're barely at that stage! The idea of saving 20-30k is so alien to me, I literally have no idea how we'd do that. I'll be renting forever!

  15. You look pretty in your outfit! Maybe not dressy, but certainly not stumpy. For a casual look round houses it was a perfect outfit. Some red heels would look nice to dress it up, though...

I'd certainly participate in a blog sale. Your clothes are gorgeous!

Well done on your training — that's a real achievement. It's hard to start running but even harder to keep going, so you should be proud of yourself :-)

I hope you had a lovely weekend x

  17. Lots of luck with the house viewings. That'll be me and my mama soon but at the moment we're on the other end, having lots of strangers poking around really isn't very fun!

  19. THREE miles in twenty-two minutes?! That's absolutely mental, that's literally fitter & faster than about 90% of runners! If that's accurate (I know some treadmills can be deceiving, my local gym's ones included) then I am seriously impressed. & so, so, so jealous! I've been trying to get that fast for two years :(

I love this outfit though. Very classic Helen.

  21. Yes trust me, when you buy a house you get major guilt spending money on anything but house stuff - i haven't bought new clothes since last autumn.. but it's worth it!

  22. Ahhh I wanted that coat! I had so many Topshop vouchers and went all the way Oxford Street only to be told it had sold out everywhere! I was heartbroken haha! It looks lovely on!
Good luck with the house viewing, it all sounds very grown up haha!
I know what you mean about £25 being expenisve for a charity shop but I just had to have it haha!

  26. oh my goodness! house buying sounds so scary and crazy. I hope you find a place that you love.
You should try running in the rain. It's pretty refreshing actually though a bit annoying when the rain gets in your eyes.
