I've had quite an up and down week - but it ended good on Friday with a good day in work starting a new project and then a lovely evening with 2 of my best friends. I bought the black dress the day before on a lovely shopping trip with my friend who was back up north from London. I had so many compliments on the dress! All my colleagues loved it. I love it too and think it may also lend itself to other occasions such as Sunday dinners with the family. There is also a matching blazer available for it which is very tempting... I also desperately need more coloured belts to jazz it up! It came with the black belt but I already have a million dresses with black belts.
My second outfit is an old old favourite - I think I have had this dress for nearly 3 years! That is kind of terrifying. I like to think it's a good sign that I am finally happy with my style though instead of owning clothes for a few months and then hating them. The only problem now is that I have no storage room for all my clothes as I love them all but it keeps expanding! Anyone else have this issue?

i LOVE that first dress from new look! would be really chic for work.

That first dress is gorgeous! The shape and fit SO don't look New Look!
ReplyDeleteOh no, I hope the ups outweighed the downs lovely (: I really like both of these outfits, the first one is so darling, definitely a versatile piece. I have quite a few pieces that I've had in my wardrobe for months now, that I simply restyle over and over in different ways. My wardrobes are both fit to bursting point though, it's awful! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! How much was the dress from New Look, actually? I'm looking for work dresses and that is absolutely PERFECT! I have a black dress uniform, haha.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely outfits! x
I have that black dress on my wishlist! Didn't find it in store, sadly...
ReplyDeleteYou look nice!
i totally have that issue with clothes storage too haha! the first black dress is absolutely lovely, and that giant cupcake is adorable!xxx
ReplyDeleteLove both outfits! Especially love the first dress though - love how full the skirt of it is.
ReplyDeleteJust recently discovered your blog, and I love it a lot! I love your style of writing, and as for your clothes, they're gorgeous!

i remember the second dress and i agree, its great that you're comfortable enough with your style to be wearing these dresses years later. first new look dress is fabulous, really smart and structured.
ReplyDeleteI never had too many clothes until I started working and earning my own money, but even now I stay moderate.
ReplyDeleteOf course, there are seasonal "purges" that I do every year, but otherwise, I try to utilize all my pieces.

ReplyDeleteYep I have problems storing my clothes, everything is always so creased because its all squashed in. I might start seperating my summer and winter clothes!

That black dress does look very nice on you- I like how you've teamed it up with a red shirt, lips, and shoes. I struggle with storage space for my clothes as well- the clothes rack in my wardrobe had to be fitted with an extra support because it started sagging under the weight of all my clothes!
ReplyDeletewow the shape of the dress in that first pic is stunning
ReplyDeleteI love the red shoes, they really are adorable :)
ReplyDeleteI love the cut on that black dress its gorgeous and so flattering on you.
ReplyDeleteI love both dresses- but especially the 'old favourite'. The other day I put in a skirt which I realised I bought *eight* years ago, so a three year old dress is but a baby to me!
ReplyDeleteI think it's really good that you've bought things that you really love and still wear years later rather than things that end up in the charity shop within a year (which I am all too guilty of).
Awww thank you hun :D will defo check out the eye creams heheh mwua x oh and your blog is FAB X

you look lovely x
ReplyDeleteI love the new dress! It's so classic! I can see myself having a bit of a hunt for that soon. Truth is though, I love the whole outfit. & one of my favourite things about your outfit photos is that I know I will see items again & again, rather than just once & never again. I like seeing how to dress different bits up.
ReplyDelete+1 for all the dress love! I love dresses like that, but I can never seem to find ones that are nearly knee-length - they're all far too short for me! Looks fantastic on you though :D
ReplyDeletethat new look dress looks great and really suits you! It looks like it's made of really decent fabric too, it hangs beautifully! hope the week brings you lots of good t outweigh any bad vibes
ReplyDeleteThat New Look dress is now on my wishlist, LOVE it x
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way. I'm very fickle with my clothes and wish I could be more consistent. You love lovely, btw!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I love that black work dress, I need one exactly like that! It looks like its sold out on the website damnit :( It look so lovely on you!
ReplyDeletebeautiful dress <3

Love that first dress Helen! It looks so classy on you - can't believe it's from New Look. Much as I like some of their stuff, it's not a word I usually associate with their frocks.
ReplyDeletevery nice your first dress but I even prefer the second because it makes you seem more sweet :)
ReplyDeleteI don´t like at all the feeling of buying something and hate it after a few months.....it makes me feel so consumerist!!!
Aw, you're so so cute! I love your layering and all the colors together look lovely. Your styling is impeccable, lovely!
ReplyDeletecute outfit! nice blog too!

love both looks! dresses are such versatile pieces!
ReplyDeleteThat new look dress is absolutely gorgeous... such a lovely shape! x
ReplyDeleteWow, I really love the first dress - I'm going to start stalking it now, it would be so good for work! I have a couple of similar dresses but the skirts are more tulip-y, that looks much more flattering. It looks gorgeous on you, I love it with the tshirt. The other dress is gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteI have the same issue as you, my wardrobe just does not want to close!
First look is so sweet, it makes the dress look like a pinafore which reminds me of those years I spent in pinafore's and gingham dresses, with sweet lace socks and my hair in plaits (which would ultimately turn into a rats nest by the end of the day), apologies for the nostalgic rant! xo
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos, lovely outfits :)
ReplyDeleteI love absolutely everything you wear!
ReplyDeleteThe black dress is totally gorgeous and I love love red on you :)
I also have that problem with my wardrobe expanding - I have had to start using vac bags to store my out of season clothes!
