The list of things to do at the house is ever expanding! We found some damp patches when we stripped the wallpaper so they really need to be sorted out and we are also trying to sort out the double glazing this week. The plan is to get the living room finished ASAP, we've just finalised our choices for the paint colours after much deliberation. So many nice colours and combinations, too few rooms & walls!
I think I will keep our living room a secret now until I can do a big 'final reveal', but what are you favourite colours for living rooms?

cute outfit :)
ReplyDeletexoxo.
Lovely outfit, You can't go wrong with red shoes :)
ReplyDeleteOur living room has white walls (which I'm desperate to paint) but we have a beautiful chocolate brown velvet sofa (comfiest thing in the world). This is contrasted with touches of bright teal in our curtains and a huge gold framed mirror above the fireplace. I loved it when it was first done but I want to redecorate soon with more neautral colours I think.

Wow, amazing how it got so dusty that you could doodle on the glass like that! I can't wait to be able to decorate my own place, haha. You're so lucky!
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit. Your dress is pretty! No reason not to wear it more than once!

my mum's living room is cream with a dark red feature wall where the fireplace is, with brown and gold accessories etc. It doesn't sound like it'd work, but its so warm and cosy in there :)
ReplyDeleteI think my dream living room will be duckegg blue or mint with cream, and some gorgeous Laura Ashley wallpaper like this one - http://www.lauraashley.com/wallpaper/cottonwood-leaf-metallic-wallpaper-silver/invt/3485115/
:) x
I don't think I can ever really decide on a favourite colour for a particular room - it entirely depends on the style of your furnishings, the light the room gets etc. Generally I'm not a fan of "big" wallpaper or really dark feature walls though.
ReplyDeleteKeep wearing that dress though! It'd be at the front of my wardrobe if I owned it - it's so beautiful.
How exciting :) Neutral colours always look nice- the walls in my flat are painted olive green and brown which sounds really boring but it actually works. That dress is very cute, I love it when you find a staple piece that lasts you for years and years :)
ReplyDeleteMy friends house has white washed walls with bits and pieces they have picked up on their travels (she is from Greece so there is lots blue and pictures of greece) I love that simple look with coloured items as features. Can't wait to see the final reveal of your house! :)

'The big reveal' makes it sounds like something off of 60 Minute Makeover or Changing Rooms (woah.. even I remember being little and looking at Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen's shirts in awe!). Can't wait to see how everything turns out and my, your dress is lovely. Florals never fail (oooo that sounds like a great mantra which I'm sure Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen lives by too) :) xx
ReplyDeleteooh, i like that dress! and the red shoes to go with it! :)
ReplyDeleteand congratulations on your new house! how exciting!
old favourite dresses are the best!
ReplyDeleteOur main living room is going to be the last room we do, it's got all our stuff in and we wont use it much. There is a second reception roomat the back of the house that is a little more private. It's my mums house so she is chosing everything modern bleurgh!!! The kitchen, dining room and reception room are going to be quite open plan and the kitchen is high shine white with lots of black and grey with purple accessories. Not my sytle at all :(
ReplyDeleteThe forma; living roomis cream and brown with a bit of lime green which looks nice and fresh x
Can't wait to see the big reveal. I love rich reds for living rooms with light colored furniture or the other way round.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting - I am so looking forward to the big reveal! I am a big fan of white I have to say. In my dream world I live in Sweden and I everything is white, with amazing colourful art and fabrics to liven it up!
ReplyDeletei love turquoise living rooms.. a dusky colour a bit like carrie's in sex & the city hehe!
ReplyDeletefeel happy for having time to prepare your house...I had to do it in more or less one week...you can´t imagine how frustrating is with a list to the shops saying I need a bed a lamp ....without time to think what is the bed to you... :S for me living room always with withe or cream colors......I am too classic for mix...
ReplyDeleteLove the house! It's the exact same layout as my student house was at Uni and it brought back so many memories! I'm sure you'll make it look amazing in no time! Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteHeart doodles are the best!
ReplyDeleteI second Marina, in having time to enjoy doing the decorating. But having said that, I can't wait for the big reveal!

hope you're having fun with your new house. i think a woman's bit is the finishing touches, they were the bits i liked most about buying my own property.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty dress, and your red shoes are cute. There's just something about red shoes, I have a tendency to gravitate towards them. Maybe I have a Dorothy complex?
ReplyDeleteHope you're having fun doing up your house, can't wait to see the finished results. Are you going to transfer your funky polaroid door to your new bedroom?
Love the dress Helen. Good luck with all the DIY and decorating, my dream living room would be fairly neutral (maybe a pale green or blue) with loads of art and old tat scattered about. Can't wait to see what you've done with yours! Sally x
ReplyDeleteI don't have red flats any more and I miss them so! I adore that dress, lots of my favourites are the really old ones. I'm so excited to hear about your new house - it is hard moving in, so much to do, but so worth it when it's done.
ReplyDeleteMine and my sister's living room was bright pink and white. Sounds hideous but it was amazing. My dream is to find magenta and white striped wallpaper now, though.
Firstly lovely outfit. that dress is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAs for our lounge it is fairly neural in beige with brown sofas. we did all the bright colours when we first moved in so over the years we have now gone back to basic colours.

amazing look!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a notorious window doodler and always seem to do love hearts too (why is that I wonder?). I don't think I could decide on colours without having the specific room in mind...I'm a fan of the comfy and homely so probably something warm but not too dark x
ReplyDeleteYou got great points there, so I always visit your blog, it looks like you are an expert in this field. keep up the good work, My friend recommends your site.

You look adorable! Good luck with the cleaning and organizing. Can't wait to to see the finished results!
ReplyDeleteI love the outfit! We have always had quite strong colours: golden yellow, terracotta etc in our living room at home but now we have a gorgeous pale olive green!

Lovely dress. Looking forward to checking out the 'big reveal' of the living room. It must be so much fun putting everything together.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a lovely dress- for a pretty print! I love the colour of your cardigan. I'm just starting to inject some vivid blue into my wardrobe and knitwear may be a good idea ^_^
