Yesterday I graduated with my MA in Information & Library Management, it feels amazing to say that I'm a master of something! 2 years ago I graduated with a BA in English and didn't have any real idea that I was going to be a librarian. It was just a small acorn in my mind and how it has grown in the last 2 years!
The graduated was lovely. I got to pose in front of both of Liverpool's cathedrals, first the wigwam and then the Anglican, which is where LJMU always has it's graduation ceremonies. My only gripe is that the ceremony was very long and very boring! To be honest, I only wanted to wear the cap & gown and get my photos taken and also catch up with old class mates I haven't seen in over a year. I got to do all of that, but also had to endure the less fun bits too.
I know quite a few other bloggers have been graduating this week too so I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's outfits! For my first graduation, I kept it simple with just a white shirt and black skirt like you're told to wear, but this time I wore an old Miss Selfridge dress because it had buttons down the front but was also a lot prettier than the average graduation outfit. I wore my Duo shoes too, but they ended up hurting me so badly because I have never worn them without tights before! What did you wear to your graduation?

For my graduation (5 yrs ago) I wore the suggested black skirt and white shirt and loved the outfit but the hood of my gown pulled the back of my shirt down which meant a whole day of readjusting myself before a photo!
ReplyDeleteI had my graduation at the Anglican catherdral too! I just wore boring black trousers & white blouse. But then again I hardly ever wear skirts or dresses! Congrats to you :) xx
ReplyDeleteI graduated yesterday with my English Literature BA =) from Newcastle Uni. I wore a long fitted dark blue dress from Warehouse. A lot of people were very dressy at mine!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Helen!
ReplyDeleteYou look great:) xx
Congratulations! x
ReplyDeleteeee, congratulations, you look fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteI wore a boring white shirt, black skirt combo for mine too but with black peep toes wedges which I loved!
Congratulations! I'm a lecturer and love seeing my classes graduate, but find it mind-numbing sitting through the hundreds of other people I don't know as they traipse up on stage!
ReplyDeleteFor my graduation I wore a black and white checked skirt with a white broderie anglaise top, plus open toe wedge mule things which I was so, so afraid I was going to fall over in. I didn't bother with the ceremony for my postgrad and did that one "in absentia".
Lovely photos - the cathredrals are a brilliant back drop! Hope you had a lovely day x
ReplyDeleteYou are such a lovely master! ;) Wow, that is such a huge accomplishment- you should be really proud! You look absolutely beautiful in your graduation outfit too!

Congratulations. I had my BA graduation at the Anglican and lots of photos with friends in Dean Walters and The Pilgrim. I'm not sure I can remember what I wore - 2005 feels like a long time ago. I must dig out the photographs.
ReplyDeleteYou look fab.
Congratulations! You look lovely and what fab weather for posing in your gown! I stressed so much about my graduation outfit but went for the standard black trousers / plain top option like most other commenters I see!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! :) So exciting!
ReplyDeleteI adore your outfit! I wish I'd looked as stylish at my graduation, I graduated from Durham with my MA a couple of years ago and wore a boring black skirt and white shirt! I graduated in the January and it was freezing so I wore my coat underneath my robes too!
ReplyDeleteI didn't go to mine, maybe I will do an MA in the future and I can go then.
ReplyDeleteYou look very smart :) xx
You look lovely and so cute :-) Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Helen! You looked really pretty.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! I always think graduation ceremonies are a bit tedious. I actually skipped my MA ceremony! Haha. I figured I had endured enough of them already. You look super cute, as always:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations :) I graduated from Liverpool Uni in 2007, feels like so long ago now! Ours was in the Philharmonic x

oh wow, congratulations on your masters! i've just finished my first year of university, graduating seems like such a distant thing! xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I'm so happy for you. And P.S. your legs look amazing in these pictures
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Looks like you had gorgeous weather to graduate in too! For my graduation I wore a black dress from Warehouse which had a lacey neckline and a few buttons down the front. My only gripe was that it felt really strange wearing all black, something I never do!
ReplyDeleteYou look so beautiful! Congratulations for getting to the end of it :) I agree, grad ceromies are very boring (judging from the ones I've been to- not my own!). Your dress is adorable by the way :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! :) for my grad (5 years ago!) I wore a fuchsia coloured dress and white heels. Heh here everyone dresses up really nice usually, my grad started with a champagne breakfast at 10am and didn't end till 2am after the ceremony, dinner with family and drinks with classmates! It is a long day but so worth it for that bit of paper :)

ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Well done.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I'm working in my department this summer and have been fighting through crowds of graduates on my lunch breaks! It feels like loads of people are graduating now, but maybe that's just because I'm around to see my friends!
ReplyDeleteI think Bristol are pretty strict on clothes (boo) but if I'm lucky my boyfriend will graduate from his PhD at the same ceremony so I'll have a great accessory :)
Sarah
P.S. We get Bristol's Wills Memorial Building (http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=8978957@N07&q=wills%20memorial) but UWE get the anglican cathedral!
