Home sweet home
We have the keys to our house! We got them last week and it has been non-stop since. We have had a new boiler fitted and received our new kitchen ready to fit it. We've also found some damp patches on the chimney breast which is quite distressing... There is lots to work do and we won't have any internet yet, so blogging may be intermittent until we are settled. I can't wait until we are all settled and to show you how we do it all up! But for now you can have a nosy at our 'before' photos on my flickr set here.
Anyone have any tips on how to stay organised throughout a big house renovation & move?!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It's a great time to buy so you're very smart!
ReplyDeleteNo tips on renovation I'm afraid. In terms of moving though, make sure everything is properly unpacked as soon as possible, or you end up with loads of boxes of rubbish in storage two years down the line.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Your new house looks amazing (I'm totally jealous)
ReplyDeleteYour house is so cool!! :) it has plenty of potential. Looking forward to seeing your new kitchen when it's all done! I can't wait to get a new house and set up a room as my office/cake making studio!! :)

Hoorah, can't wait to see the after photos!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! I've never renovated but we are huge on the DIY - Here are my top three tips for you:
ReplyDelete1. Toss toss toss! You can't organize clutter.
2. Make sure you have dropcloths when you paint! It sucks to have to try to get paint out of woodgrain.
3. Don't settle for anything you don't love and doesn't speak to you. You'll end up redoing it or buying a different one!
This is first time I do comment on this blog but I have seen this blog since several weeks ago. I like your blog and your new house sounds nice!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Good luck with all the renovations. I just had an offer accepted on a flat yesterday, and it needs some work so I'll be in the same position in a few months. Exciting!
ReplyDeleteCongrats. Your house looks already quite good.
ReplyDeleteGood luck for the renovation and the moving.
awh congrats! you're all grown up! i can't wait to see the after piccies.

huge congrats, I absolutely can not wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so pretty- it will be nice to see what it looks like when you've settled in :) My top renovating/moving tip is to stock up on storage containers- don't do what I did last time I moved and stash everything in garbage bags!
ReplyDeleteOh it looks a lovely house, I'm sure you'll do great things with it! Love that fireplace in the bedroom. No tips really I'm afraid, although I always find it helpful to list what's in each box, so "glasses and utensils", "plates and bowls" rather than just "kitchen stuff", "kitchen stuff", "kitchen stuff"!
ReplyDeleteOh I sympathise, moving is so stressful, as is any kind of building work/decorating. It's all worth it in the end though. The house looks wonderful, plenty of potential. Enjoy turning it into a home, can't wait to see some updates on the process :)

ReplyDeleteCongrats!!!! Good luck with the decorating and moving in. One word of advice, make sure your boxes are labeled so that when you move in you can put the right boxes in the right room. Can't wait to see your after pictures.
