Dress - Dorothy Perkins
Belt - Asos
Shoes - Clarks

Last week 2 of my colleagues left to pastures new so I was asked to bake a celebration leaving cake for them. I made my traditional triple layer sponge cake with lilac butter-cream decorated with pretty sugar flowers (shop bought, not handmade!). It was also my first time experimenting with icing writing and I think it went quite well!
I've had a super busy week this week, I've been working two 6-day weeks on the run and am really in need of a break! I have a week booked off in a fortnight though which is when we are going to officially move all of our furniture into the house, I am SO excited! I will be able to share some proper finished photos with you all!
Oh and finally I couldn't post without mentioning Steve Jobs. Having an iPhone has changed my life (some might say for the worse, as my Mum always refers to it as my 'hand extension', but I think it's for the better!). Apple make some amazing products and they are so iconic, he will be missed. I also think it is a testament to the popularity of his products that most people found out about his passing using Apple products. RIP Steve Jobs.

Oh my gosh that cake looks awesome, love that lavender shade.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I totally agree with you on the iPhone thing. I literally carry it around EVERYWHERE with me! The world has definitely lost a truly innovative and talented individual.
Ohh, gorgeous looking cake! Bet it was well appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI agree; where would we be without our iPhones?! The world has lost a true genius. Xo
I have just noticed your polaroids on the back of the door. Love.
ReplyDeleteCan I have a slice of that cake, it is so pretty!
I love your dress, it is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you about Steve Jobs, he completely changed the world. I would honestly be lost without my iphone, as dramatic as it sounds it holds my whole life!

ReplyDeleteThat looks like such a yummy cake. I am also very sad about Steve Jobs, i wouldn't be abe to do what i do without him! I dont have an iphone but i've long been a fangirl of Apple computers and have had 5 during my time at college and uni. Once you go mac, you do't go back! x
ReplyDeleteYou look really cute, but I must say that the cake got my eyes. It looks perfect and I think I've never seen a lilac cake before. It's the perfect goodbye cake.

ReplyDeleteOn an unrelated note: I was just putting together a post and I realized that my apartment building is comprised of some of your staple wardrobe colours; it's quite amusing, so feel free to pop by if you're curious:) xx

You wouldn't know it was your first writing icing attempt, it looks excellent! I also love your little bow belt. I'm not much of a belt person (other than to hold up trousers!) but I really like yours. It's so dainty and pretty.
