Dark days

shoes - tesco, skirt - topshop, t-shirt - h&m, cardigan - marks & spencer, coat - topshop, scarf - new look

Happy December! (Omg, December already.) This is what I wore on Monday - it was still very dark when I left the house so I'm lucky to have managed to snap these, although they are quite poor quality. I am hating these dark days and nights! I never want to get up in the mornings or do anything when I get home from work. The only shining light getting me through the next few weeks is Christmas (of course) and the fact that after the 21st December the days will start getting longer again.

This is my new fur scarf, it was an absolute bargain from New Look for £6!I ordered it online and got it delivered to my local store for pick up - something I've been doing with a few shops lately for Christmas shopping to save on paying postage, it's been really good.

Anyone have any tips for avoiding the winter blues and feeling more energetic in the dark days?

  1. Cute scarf- looks nice and warm :) I'm so glad we're just coming out of the colder months here- I hate winter so really feel for you! Maybe try lighting some candles when you get home and putting on some jazz or mood music. Sounds a bit cliche but it might work ;)

  2. I love the scarf! I've got a very similar one that I got in the sales last year, always get lots of compliments on it and it goes with almost everything in my wardrobe; can't go wrong! x

  3. I agree with you about hating the lack of daylight. All I want to do is curl up on the couch with a good book. I'm also ordering online and getting things shipped to local stores (for those that aren't offering free shipping). It really adds up.

  4. I struggle so much in winter too!! I usually do baking or cleaning at nights, somehow I'm more motivated to do this in winter as its not sunny until 10pm!! Nothing wrong with sitting on the couch, wrapped in a blanket and reading a good book though...

I love winter because I just light a few candles (especially Christmas scented ones) and make the most of the darkness.

  14. What a lovely scarf! I am getting a bit tired of the dark winter nights (and mornings) too, but I'm trying to get outside a bit at lunch and weekends to see at least a little bit of daylight in my day which helps a bit!

  16. Nice outfit! I'm not a fan of the dark mornings and evenings either, but find that cycling everywhere helps as at least I get some fresh air and exercise. However, it's raining heavily today so I might take the bus instead!

  22. I have succumbed to the winter blues, but getting everything ready for Christmas is making a big difference. I'm currently baking lot's of holiday treats, which put me in a wonderful mood but twill affect my waistline.

I like to light a few candles and have a glass of warming mulled wine on these cold winter nights.

  26. I feel more lethargic than gloomy in winter but being tired does sometimes lead to feeling down...I think just spending lots of time with friends and trying to eat well/spend lots of time outside (at weekends?) helps make you feel better...oh and also planning a summer holiday ;) X
