Mini-break

Monday
Shoes - Topshop
Dress - New Look
Cardigan - H&M

Just a quick outfit from yesterday. I'm on my way to York today for a few nights with Scott, it should be a nice break. I used to visit York a lot when my friend was at Uni there and really like it, but Scott has never been and I really want to take him to Betty's for afternoon tea. Here are some old photos I took on my LCA before it broke. (sadface. I don't know what is wrong with it, films just keep coming out completely blank.)

Oh that has made me miss that camera! I really ought to try to get it fixed.

I had a bit of an odd weekend really, I didn't end up running the Mersey Tunnel 10k as I woke up ill on Sunday morning and just knew it wasn't a good idea to run with a dodgy tum. I was quite sad that I missed out on expanding the medal collection and the chance to run through the Mersey tunnel and see the amazing view as we come out the other side, but I can always do it next year. (I think if it was a one off run I would have cried and/or forced myself to run!) I don't really know where to go with my running now. Hoping that when I get back from our mini-break I can get back into it.

Yesterday we went to see some more wedding venues and we still have some thinking to do, but we are hoping to book our date soon!

Thanks for all your comments on my last post - I have some nice ideas for prints to buy for the hallway and general inspiration. Now the only problem is finding a spare weekend to do it all in! June and July are looking busy already.

  1. I haven't been to York in yonks.
    Ooo, Betty's!!!!!
Have you done the train museum? It's much more fun than it sounds!!
What a shame about the run; bad enough having a dodgy tum, but to have to miss your run as well. Not good.
    I love your pretty dress.
    Have a wonderful break.

  3. Hope you have a great time in York! Don't worry about the running, I'm sure the motivation will come and find you again :-)

  4. Ooh, York! One of my friends was at uni there but I never made it up. I remember really liking it when I was about 11 but haven't been back since.
Poor camera, are the negatives completely blank or are the numbers on there?
If the numbers are there then it might be the case that the film isn't winding into the camera properly and therefore never getting exposed. If the numbers are gone then you've got a mahusive light leak problem or incompetent developers.

  5. You have an LC-A? Hurray for that but boo for it not working... Have you checked the batteries? You may need new batteries or you may have a dodgy shutter :( Is it from Lomography? They have two year guarentees so you could try contacting them too if it is...

I love York!! We can get the train straight there but I really don't go often enough, I took one of my friends to Betty's last year though and it was amazing. Have a great time :)

    1. My LCA is off eBay, not a lomo one but a russian one. The batteries are okay; the connectors were a bit dodgy at first but a bit of foil fixed it and the light meter seems to be working so I don't think it's that. I think it's a dodgy shutter unfortunately :(

  6. Awh I'm sorry you missed out on the race. Maybe do that 5 mile I mentioned in Sefton Park to do something different than a 10K.

I hope you have a lovely time in York. Ive been once to photograph a wedding and during my time off, I went for a wander round York. Didn't get to go in anywhere but it's definitely somewhere I'd like to revisit.

  11. Have a fantastic time! I love York.

Such a shame about the 10k :( Do you need the medal and the competition to make you do it, or would you run that far in training anyway? You could always map out a 10k round the park one weekend and then we could treat you to a lavish brunch on Lark Lane?

    1. That sounds like a good idea! The medal and competition does help, I've been thinking of doing the Park Runs at Princes Park cos they are free but timed and with other people which I think will motivate me.

So sorry you weren't well enough for the run, such a shame.

  13. Nice photos! Regarding the--ahem--conversation about "me" on twitter, I wasn't really talking about anyone specific regarding money and saving up vs. taking the leap. I believe some of the other commenters had mentioned prolonging engagements to do just that, and it is a major issue where I live, as well--living together for 3, 4 or more years to pay for a lavish wedding. I was commenting on the general topic of postponing weddings and long engagements. Either way, I don't think it's a good practice, and studies have been conducted indicating that living together isn't a guarantee of an amicable marriage, in fact, just the opposite. Cheers!

    1. Co-habiting prior to marriage is a trivial factor in the success of a relationship, most modern research suggests others factors have a far bigger influence.

Prolonging engagement to save up for a "lavish" wedding, or any other reason is a personal choice. The flip side is simply to say that people who get married before living together are naive and irresponsible, an opinion I hold myself. I probably wouldn't choose to express it on the blog a of a happy couple who can't wait to be married so they can move in together, it might seem a little tactless.

I don't want to drag out this discussion further, especially on an unrelated blog post, i'm sure you will want to reply and please do, but then lets all agree to disagree and only comment on topic. Like how bad I look eating a sandwich in Betty's :(

    2. Well, since a twitter conversation was linked and my comments were being discussed there, I didn't think it inappropriate to chime in here where I'd originally posted, especially since I wasn't given the courtesy of being invited to my hanging over on twitter (don't have it anyway, but just since we're discussing propriety, it does seem relevant, and discussing someone in absentia does indeed to me seem "a little tactless.") But, indeed, let's move on, although I'm sorry I must DISAGREE once again, because you and the sandwich do not look bad at all. :)

  15. I just randomly came across your blog and I must say it's beautiful. I was thinking of doing some new charity runs. I didn't think you got medals for any of them (well the exception of the London Marathon). Which ones have you run where they have given you a medal? I must be picking the wrong ones!

  16. I think most races now give medals out! I've done the Manchester 10k and the Liverpool Womens 10k and both gave medals out. I know some of the smaller ones don't though, but race for life's give medals out too. Hope you manage to find some to start collecting!

  17. Ooh awesome dress! That sucks about the race, I was gonna try a half marathon this September but hurt myself this week and dunno how long its gonna be before I can run again, supremely annoyed... :)
