I love
breakfast. I am not one of these people who can survive until lunch time on a cup of tea alone. I always, always make time for breakfast. Scott, however, is the complete opposite. The only time he will make time for breakfast is at the weekend if we decide to go out for brunch on Lark Lane, or he fancies some egg on toast on a Sunday. I love breakfast so much I even have a
flickr set dedicated to the most important meal of the day! My go to everyday breakfast is porridge with a multitude of toppings. I have a sweet tooth, so usually some dates and golden syrup, blueberries, nutella, peanut butter, sultanas & cinnamon. I also love eggs for breakfast, but that is usually reserved for weekends when I have a bit more time to make a mess in the kitchen. Even sometimes porridge takes too long but I'm not a big fan of many cereals to be honest.
When I was asked to try
McVitie's Breakfast Biscuits, I was a bit '
biscuits?! For breakfast!' but since Scott quite often eats a dozen chocolate digestives for biscuits I thought why the hell not. The breakfast biscuits are a bit healthier than that though, low in sugar and fortified with vitamins. And, they also took a lot less time to prepare than the usual porridge. I had mine with nutella, because I am a bit of a nutella fiend, and a cup of coffee and a tangerine. The red berry flavour was really nice, but they also do an apple and cinnamon flavour which I'm eager to try. They are a little bit dry, but with nutella or dipped in some yoghurt or coffee, they are pretty damn tasty.
Are you a breakfast aficionado or do you prefer to hit snooze and skip brekkie? With my new job, I've been starting work earlier and the biscuits are perfect to take in and eat at my desk. With some fruit and a brew, they seem to see me through to lunch!

I have never been tempted to try them but I do think they would be handy for the days where you don't have time or you're in a rush.
ReplyDeleteI am a porridge fan too but, as we don't have a microwave and I use the hob to make it, it takes such a long time to cook.
I'm a porridge addict - love it with PB or nutella :)

I love breakfast, I couldn't do a 5 am start every day without it!

I love breakfast! I love porridge, eggs or fruit, yoghurt and of course peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteI personally think these biscuits look really unnapealing (god can't spell!) and dry. I'd rather grab a banana or yoghurt or something. I have seen ones with a yoghurty filling, which might be better. So I'm not really sold, but interesting to see!
I HAVE to have breakfast, usually within the first thirty minutes of waking up. I used to skip breakfast some years ago, but I know I would NEVER make it. I will have to be on the look out for these when we head to the UK in June!
ReplyDeleteBreakfast biscuits save me on a Weds morning when I start work at 7am! I'm a real breakfast fiend and don't function without it! x
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a breakfast girl - I can't function with out it! I usually have fruit and yoghurt or toast, the idea of biscuits seems odd to me but I'd definitely like them for those mornings I'm in a rush xx
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a breakfast girl, god help anybody who meets me if I haven't had my breakfast! I used to think I could only stomach cereal in the morning but have since discovered that as long as dairy is involved (cereal and milk, yoghurt or porridge) then I'm ok. As much as I love biscuits, I don't know if I could eat them for breakfast. By the way I love the mug in your second picture.
